Sort an Array
Given an array of integers, sort it in ascending order and return it. You must solve this without using built-in sort and in O(n log n) time and O(log n) space.

Problem
Given an array of integers nums, sort the array in ascending order and return it.
Input
An integer array `nums`.
Output
The array sorted in ascending order.
Examples
Input: nums = [5,2,3,1]
Output: [1,2,3,5]
Input: nums = [5,1,1,2,0,0]
Output: [0,0,1,1,2,5]
The brute-force approach
Selection sort or insertion sort: O(n²). Simple to implement but fails the time constraint.

nums[i], nums[j] = nums[j], nums[i]O(n²) comparisons — too slow for large inputs.
